Historic Weather Requires a Historic Effort NATIONWIDE
CLIENT OBJECTIVES
USM clients and suppliers experienced historic weather during the ’13-’14 snow season, with many states realizing 200-300% their seasonal snowfall averages. During these extreme conditions, USM committed to the following:
- Enhanced focus to client locations in southern states, minimizing business impact
- Delivery of bulk salt to mitigate nationwide supply shortages
- Expedited payment to suppliers
- Backup support to client’s landlord (LL) maintained sites
VALUE DELIVERED
USM delivered creative solutions during historic snow events/season that provided clients and suppliers with the following:
- Client sites in VA, SC, NC, and GA serviced by USM were the first to open during Winter Storm Leon
- 300+ tons of rock salt procured and delivered to USM suppliers for USM client sites when it was otherwise unavailable!
- Accelerated $3 million of prepayments to USM suppliers to ensure they had the resources to keep their crews plowing
- Emergency service to LL maintained locations experiencing service failure by others
SOLUTIONS
Significant snow events are becoming the “new normal,” even in atypical areas. Clients and suppliers alike have experienced challenges due to resource, raw material and financial constraints. USM committed to addressing these challenges by:
- Leveraging the experience, heavy equipment, and salt of USM suppliers in the North coupled with USM’s planning and financial strength to send reinforcements to the South:
- During “Leon” USM mobilized suppliers from NY and OH to successfully support more than 100 client sites in NC, SC, VA, and GA
